Tensile Stress-Strain, Strength, Modulus and Poisson's Ratio

Test ID

A universal testing machine (UTM) is used. The test specimen is loaded between the grips of the UTM.  A mechanical (contact) extensometer is used to measure axial strain, and a mechanical (contact) extensometer for transverse strain.  For soft materials, video (non-contact) equipment are used. The specimen is stretched at a constant speed while load and strain are recorded.
The speed of testing is specified by the relevant standard; measurements at speeds slower than 1 mm/min may be assessed an additional charge if excessive instrument time is required.
ASTM D638
ISO 527

Tensile modulus, Poisson's ratio, tensile strength at yield or break, and stress-strain curves are reported.  This data appears in Matereality as Tensile Properties
Replicates (# of times this test is repeated)
6 - tensile bars [details]

This test is used for design engineering and may be required for automotive certification.
