Plastic Point In Compression
Test ID
M-037
Description
Cyclic tests are performed on a material, in which the material is compressed to incrementally increasing extensions and then unloaded in between. Imposed and residual strains are recorded. Up to thirty extensions are used. A strain vs. residual strain curve is generated. Plastic point is calculated from the intersection of the two asymtotes from the pre-yield and post-yield portions of the plots.
Data
An elastic limit defined and a stress v. plastic strain curve is provided. This data appears in

Application
This test defines a compressive non-linear elastic limit of plastics, foams and elastomers and the subsequent plasticity or hardening curve.
