Plastic Point in Tension

Test ID

Cyclic tests are performed on a material, in which the material is stretched to incrementally increasing extensions and then unloaded in between.  Imposed and residual strains are recorded.  Up to thirty extensions are used.  A strain versus residual strain curve is generated.  Plastic point is calculated from the intersection of the two asymtotes from the pre-yield and post-yield portions of the plots.
An elastic limit defined and a stress v. plastic strain curve is provided. This data appears in Matereality as Tensile Properties.

5 - tensile bars [details]

This test defines a tensile non-linear elastic limit of plastics and elastomers and the subsequent plasticity or hardening curve.
