Viscosity is determined at three temperatures over range of interest (two in process range, one below), specific heat, melt thermal conductivity, and melt density. Data are prepared for use with WinTXS.

Application
Melt state to be used only for amorphous polymers that are rubbery at ambient temperature (
e.g.
, most elastomers, flexible PVC,
etc.
) and are set as “Melt Only” materials; the softening point should be set at a temperature below the minimum acceptable feed temperature (usually ambient temperature). Otherwise, WinTXS will not allow the performance of “melt-fed” simulations with realistic operating conditions. Temperature dependencies of density are not provided.
