Cyclic Damage of Plastics

Test ID

M-623

Description

Tensile loading and unloading tests are performed at 5 strain levels in the post-yield region of the stress strain curve. Typically the strain levels are equal spacing between yield strain and break strain. The stress strain data is recorded throughout the test.

Options

Can be done at non-ambient temperatures.

Standards

  • ASTM D638
  • ASTM E8
  • ISO 527-1

Data

Offset Yield Strain in Tension, Offset Yield Stress in Tension, Tensile Modulus, Tensile Strain at Yield, Tensile Strength at Yield, Damage, Damage v. Plastic Strain, Engineering Tensile Stress-Strain Curves, Maximum Plastic Strain, Unload Modulus. This data appears in Matereality as Tensile Properties.

Replicates

Number of times this test is repeated: 5

Samples

5 tensile bars [details]

Application

This test is used to calculate damage parameters for use in simulation software. The slope of the unloading curve is compared to that of the loading curve to generate the damage curve.
