Torsional Crank Validation of Additive Material Models in RADIOSS

Test ID

V-172

Description

A truss-like bicycle crank made of additive material (3D printed) is mounted in a special fixture in which one end is rigidly constrained and the other end displaced downwards. The force, displacement, and surface strain (measured with DIC) is recorded and compared to the simulation. This validation is only enabled for the elastic region of the stress strain curve and does not include failure at this point.

Options

This test may be ordered at varying temperatures.

Standards

  • ASTM D790

Data

Load v. Displacement. This data appears in Matereality as Flexural Properties.

Replicates

Number of times this test is repeated: 5

Samples

10 Additive crank bar [details]

Application

This test is used to validate the elastic material model of an additive material. This validation does not include plasticity or failure.
