Tensile Fatigue S-N Curve of Metals (up to 60 Hz)

Test ID

M-508M

Description

Tensile fatigue tests are performed per ASTM E466 at various stress levels to produce a cyclic stress versus cycles to failure curve (S-N curve). Each stress levels is repeated 3 times to account for variability. The default parameters for this test are 30 Hz, R=0.1 with expected failures from 1000 to 10 million cycles at 23°C with specimen machining and polishing included. Prices vary by the parameters so please call if your parameters differ from these.

Options

This test can be performed as low as -55°C or as high as 1200°C. Frequencies, number of cycles, and stress ratio can be varied.

Application

An S-N curve is used to predict a materials fatigue life when subjected to repeated loading at various stresses. This property is critical for any application in which there is vibration or repeated motion under load.
