Tensile Properties of Elastomers

Test ID

M-205

Description

A universal testing machine (UTM) is used to determine tensile strength at break and stress-strain curves.  The test specimen is loaded between the grips of the UTM.  A video (non-contact) extensometer is used to measure strain.  The specimen is stretched at a constant speed while load and strain are recorded.

Options

Please use the Special Instructions section to indicate whether you require first pull or data after precycling (Mullen's effect). By default, we precycle to 100% strain prior to testing. Also indicate whether low strain (<100%) or high strain measurement

Standards

  • ASTM D412
  • ISO 37
