Rheotens Melt ElasticityR-019

Description

This test measures the melt elasticity and tensile strength of a material at a particular temperature. The sample, dried if needed, is loaded into a preheated test barrel of a capillary rheometer. The extrudate is drawn in tension by the wheels of the Rheotens apparatus; the drawing force is measured at a constant rate of acceleration until break.

Standards

  • DPL R-019N

Data

Force v. Velocity Curve, Load at Break, Velocity at Break, Elongational Stress v. Elongation Ratio. This data appears in Matereality as Melt Elasticity.

Replicates

Number of times this test is repeated: 3

Samples

0.5 kg of pellets

Application

The data reported is useful for fiber spinning, extrusion, thermoforming, and blow molding processes.
