Moldflow CRIMS Shrinkage

Test ID

G-114

Description

Properties needed to perform a Moldflow injection mold-filling/packing/shringage simulation are generated. These include viscosity vs. shear rate at three temperatures; thermal properties, PVT data. Viscosity data and PVT data are fit to Moldflow models. Shrinkage measurments are performed by Moldflow to determine the Corrected Residual In-Molded Stress (CRIMS) model coefficients. Ready-to-load data files are provided. Because these measurements are performed at an outside lab, standard turn-around time is approximately 4 weeks, and no economy service is available.

Included Tests

1x D-020 PVT (Isothermal Heating)
3x R-011 Capillary Rheology (1 Temperature)
1x R-018 No-Flow Temperature
1x T-015 Specific Heat
1x T-103 Thermal Conductivity Scan

Options

A fast turnaround alternative is the [G-007] non-CRIMS TestPak, which is found to be particularly well suited to fiber-filled plastics. [G-007] is available in 5 business days.

Application

There are two approaches to Moldflow Shrinkage/Warpage simulation. CRIMS and non-CRIMS. Either approach can be used for running Fill + Pack + Warp , a simulation that solves for filling, post-filling, shrinkage and warpage of the part. Additionally, with CRIMS data you can run the MF/Shrink (Fill+Pack+Shrink) simulation which determines a recommended shrinkage allowance that can be used to cut the mold. The simulation will provides an indication of whether critical tolerances can be met with this allowance and also a spatial representation of the validity of this allowance across the part.
